Cardigan is a must stop if you are visiting Prince Edward Island. It offers an Intrepretative Centre. which displays the shipbuilding history of the village. Island Crafts can be purchased in the Olde Station Craft Shop, which is the old railway station that operated for 100 years before the railway was stopped.

The railway bed across the island has been made into a walking / biking trail by the Provincial Government. The trail system, called The “Confederation Trail” travels across PEI, with one of the trails leading into Cardigan from Mt. Stewart. From Cardigan this trail leads on to the towns of Georgetown and Montague both within walking distance for those avid walkers and easily accessible by bicycle on a nice afternoon.
